FAQS

Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about the therapy process. If you don’t see your question answered below, contact me.

  • I have an office in San Diego, but provide telehealth services for anyone currently in California.

  • Yes. I have in person sessions available on Mondays in San Diego.

  • Online therapy is different from in-person therapy since we will not be in the same location. There are certain requirements to have for sessions to be effective via video:

    • Stable internet connection

    • Webcam and microphone must be available and enabled on your device

    • Privacy. You need to be alone and in a place where others can not hear you

    • Safety. You need to be in a place where you are safe. No sessions will be held if you are driving or in any other situation in which you could be unsafe while distracted.

    • Attention. Therapy is work that requires focus and concentration. While in our sessions, please minimize distractions such as your phone, TV, games, children, or chores.

  • $150/50 minute session for individuals and $200/50 minute session for couple’s. If you would like longer sessions for more intensive work, prices can be adjusted. Sliding scale options are available. See my investment page for more information.

  • I accept Lyra EAP but do not take any other insurance. I can provide a superbill on request for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company directly, however it is not guaranteed that you will be reimbursed for any or all of the fees of the session.

  • This depends on the concerns and goals that you have. My goal for therapy is always to help you to eventually not need therapy. Therapy can be short-term to assist with an immediate problem or crisis or long-term to facilitate long-term healing and growth. Once we discuss your goals, I will be able to give you a better estimate of how many sessions may be needed.

  • Starting therapy by yourself does not mean that your partner(s) can not be included. Depending on clinical need and willingness to participate, there are options to include other people (as long as they are over 18 years old) for either single sessions or to transition into sessions as a couple. However this is determined on a case-by-case basis.

  • I identify as a cisgender, heterosexual, white woman. Although I am not a part of many communities that I work with, I am committed to keeping myself informed and educated so that I can provide informed and non-biased care. I understand that it can feel safer and easier to discuss issues with someone that shares your lived experience, so I am upfront about my limitations so that you can make an informed choice about who you choose to work with.
